Stent underexpansion, a strong predictor of adverse outcomes¹
Stent underexpansion has been identified as a strong predictor of major adverse outcomes defined as cardiac death, target lesion related myocardial infarction, or stent thrombosis. Clinical studies show that achieving stent expansion with a minimal stent area (MSA) greater than 5.0 mm², measured with IVUS, was associated with significantly improved long-term clinical outcomes compared to both underexpansion and angiography alone.
