Design goals: Helium independence for a better future²

Our next-generation helium-free MRI technology² is being designed with sustainability front of mind and will only require a very small amount of helium, which is completely sealed in the magnet and will not require any refill. Freelium will be designed to not require a quench pipe, which will maximize installation flexibility.

Freelium is being designed with the same power and cooling infrastructures as non-sealed magnets, so there is no compromise on energy efficiency.

Design goal: Operational security for a secure future

Freelium is being engineered to include intelligent sensors which will provide remote 24/7 monitoring, so you can rest assured that operational downtime is minimized.

Automated recovery capabilities are being integrated with Freelium, which allow for seamless auto ramp-down and ramp-up processes, including magnet shimming, all without the need for field engineer intervention.

Designed to achieve diagnostic confidence with every scan, Freelium is being engineered to deliver superior magnet homogeneity, with no compromises on energy efficiency and operational security. It will be 100% compatible with GE HealthCare’s AI solutions.

Our responsible practices thread all the way from our manufacturing through to service operations. For every magnet, our SIGNA™ Evo and Lift upgrade solutions can save up to 100 tons of CO₂ per system by eradicating manufacturing and magnet disposal.
