Respiratory Monitoring

From O₂ and CO₂ monitoring at the bedside through automatic detection and measurement of anesthetic gas concentrations in the OR, the ability to effectively and efficiently monitor a patient's airway gases is an essential tool.

Patient spirometry measures airway pressures, flow, volumes, compliance, and resistance breath-by-breath at the patient’s airway. The dynamic interrelationships of pressure and volume or flow and volume are displayed as graphical loops to help clinicians manage the patient's ventilation during anesthesia and critical care.

Nutritional requirements can often be difficult to predict in mechanically ventilated patients. By using indirect calorimetry to measure the resting energy expenditure (REE) and respiratory quotient (RQ), clinicians can determine and validate the appropriate caloric needs for a patient.
