Photonova Spectra is designed for the realization of the full potential of photon-counting CT in oncology, cardiology, neurology and more.

For nearly 50 years, CT has been a vital imaging tool used by clinicians for the diagnosis of disease, trauma, and abnormalities, as well as for planning, guiding, and monitoring therapy. Designed to build on this legacy, Photonova™ Spectra* is the first in a next generation of full spectral photon-counting CT systems powered by Deep Silicon, 8-bin resolution to help expand what CT can deliver tomorrow.

When we designed our photon-counting CT (PCCT) system, we set out to move beyond incremental refinement and instead rethink the approach to care—guided by a clear focus on patient impact and a strategic leap toward Deep Silicon technology. This was more than a material choice; it was a commitment to addressing real clinical challenges with transformative technology.

Photonova Spectra delivers ultra-high-definition imaging with wide coverage, enabling fast acquisition and precise visualization of anatomical structures. Engineered with on-demand spectral imaging available for every scan, it helps to support clinicians in detecting, characterizing, and monitoring disease with confidence and ease.

Our focus on advancement does not stop there. The system was also engineered with a universal full-fidelity scan designed to support more efficient workflows through leveraging a one scan, one user protocol setup.
Deep Silicon design

Imaging never looked more alive

To deliver breakthroughs in spatial resolution and spectral performance, a revolutionary design is required. Silicon has been the industry standard semiconductor for more than 50 years and features an almost-perfect crystalline structure and purity. Our unique solution allows for the simultaneous counting of photons at multiple depth levels, minimizing the potential for pulse pile-up from hundreds of millions of photons. This helps provide exceptional soft-tissue contrast and enhances material characterization capabilities in clinical exams.

The Photonova Spectra design also supports our photon-counting optimized data-management system. This system features rotating-side data storage and high-speed processing, capable of handling up to 50 times more data** and efficiently transferring it to image reconstruction.

Photonova Spectra provides wide coverage in ultra-high definition imaging with exceptional acquisition speeds, designed to allow you to see your patient’s anatomy in exquisite detail.

With ultra-high spatial resolution scanning capability, Photonova Spectra is designed to help you see incredibly fine details, such as coronary plaque delineation, small microvascular vessels and even tiny structures of the inner ear.

Experience our industry-leading 8 cm detector coverage, combined with up to 0.23 sec rotation speed and ultra-high sampling rates featuring a 50 cm field of view (FOV) in all scan modes. This enables wide-coverage ultra-high definition imaging with reduced organ movement for exceptional image clarity.

On-demand spectral imaging enabled by 8-energy bins

Our advanced spectral imaging capabilities are intended to allow you to experience the difference between seeing and knowing so you can confidently detect, characterize and monitor disease.

Photonova Spectra is also designed to enhance material separation for tissue characterization and disease quantification, bringing potentially greater diagnostic confidence in every acquisition across care areas.

A full range of spectral imaging series is generated natively on console and available for transfer to PACS. The full-fidelity spectral data acquisition is intended to provide native DICOM images and material maps to support clinical diagnosis, with improvements of up to 4x enhanced energy discretization1, 2x higher material map spatial resolution2, and 2x improved iodine detectability3.

Compared to Revolution Apex with Gemstone Spectral Imaging (GSI), based on 10% MTF measurements in iodine (water) phantom images using the highest available resolution kernel on Photonova Spectra and on Revolution Apex with GSI at matched dose. 10 mg/mL iodine concentration was used for the measurement.
  3. Iodine detectability defined as the lowest iodine concentration the system can detect. Photonova Spectra delivers a 2x and greater improvement in iodine detectability, compared to Revolution Apex. It has the ability to detect iodine concentrations down to 0.2 mg/mL at a radiation dose of 8 mGy, using Gammex Multi‑Energy CT Phantom with water and a 0.2 mg/mL iodine insert. Dose based on a 32 cm dosimetry phantom.
