Mitigation for Recent Security Vulnerabilities:
Note: As of March 2023, all Mac-Lab/CardioLab/ComboLab systems at version 6.9.6 R3 / 6.9.6 R2 / 6.9.6 R1 / 6.9.5 / 6.9 will no longer have new security patches qualified, as Windows 7 reached End of Life (EOL) and Extended Security Updates (ESU) has also ended. Customers are advised to contact their GE HealthCare sales representative regarding the availability of a newer product version that can receive security updates. For regions where an upgrade is not available, the recommendation is to isolate the systems by disconnecting them from the network.
CVE-2020-1350 | Windows DNS Server Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
1.Does not impact ALTIX (V7) servers as they are not configured as DNS server.
2.For Mac-Lab/CardioLab V6.9, 6.9.5 and 6.9.6 R1/R2/R3 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 server,
- The Microsoft workaround as stated in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4569509/windows-dns-server-remote-code-execution-vulnerability can be safely applied. Follow the instructions in the article as stated by Microsoft.
- It is the customer's responsibility to ensure compatibility of the workaround with the hospital network. At a minimum, it is recommended to test DICOM, CVIT and HL7 communication (as applicable).
Microsoft has released a patch that addresses the vulnerability which is available for customers who have purchased Extended Support Updates (ESU). For these customers, it is recommended that the security update KB4565539 be applied to all Mac-Lab/CardioLab systems in the network instead of the workaround.

- Customers using Microsoft Defender to update Microsoft Malware Protection Engine to version 1.1.17700.4 or later. Microsoft Defender to be disabled, if other anti-malware solution is used (CVE-2019-1255, CVE-2021-1647).
