GE HealthCare and Starvision collaborate to scale remote scanning in Germany using Imaging 360 Remote powered by nCommand™ Lite*

November 18, 2025

  • GE HealthCare and Starvision, Germany’s largest physician-led radiology network, are collaborating to implement remote scanning using Imaging 360 Remote powered by nCommandTMLite*. This marks a key European collaboration involving nCommand Lite.
  • Within the scope of this collaboration five multi-vendor MRI scanners will be connected, which enables remote experts to guide local technologists in real time and evaluate workflows across multi-vendor MRI scanners in clinical practice.
  • This innovation addresses critical workforce shortages, rising imaging demands and enhances access, efficiency, and care continuity across radiology operations.

Dusseldorf, Germany — 18 November 2025 — Today, GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC), a leading global medical technology and digital solutions innovator, announced a strategic collaboration with Starvision to implement remote scanning in Germany using Imaging 360 Remote powered by nCommandTM Lite*.
In 2023, GE HealthCare entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Ionic Health to expand access to advanced remote scanning solutions. This partnership introduced Imaging 360 Remote powered by nCommand™ Lite* and demonstrates GE HealthCare’s commitment to transforming imaging workflows and driving connected care across Germany.

Radiology departments across Europe face unprecedented staffing shortages and rising demand for imaging services. Remote solutions are becoming essential to ensure timely access to high-quality care. In Germany, nearly one in five radiologists is expected to retire within five years, while shortages of medical technologists for radiology (MTRs) add further pressure - risking delays in advanced imaging, increasing clinician workloads, and impacting patient care. ¹

Starvision, Germany’s largest physician-led radiology network with more than 240 specialists across over 60 practice sites in North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Hesse federal states, is collaborating with GE HealthCare, focusing on adapting workflows for German radiology practices. This collaboration will explore how remote solutions can improve efficiency, expand access, and enhance workforce support in radiology.

As part of the project five MRI scanners - located in Düsseldorf (North Rhine-Westphalia), Mainz (Rheinland Pfalz), Wiesbaden (Hessen) - from multiple vendors - will be remotely connected to evaluate best practices for workflows and operations to establish remote scanning as a new way of working for radiology practices and departments.

The nCommand Lite, an FDA-cleared and CE marked** remote scanning solution as a medical device, is a multi-modality platform (MRI, CT, PET/CT) designed for low-bandwidth environments common in remote or rural locations with network challenges and limited internet connectivity. It enables remote experts to support local technologists in real time, guiding protocol adjustments, training, and complex exam workflows - all while the local team retains full control over granting and managing access.

“Our goal is to make remote scanning more accessible, especially for patients who need complex imaging and support from expert technologists who are not on-site,” said Scott Miller, CEO of Enterprise Imaging Solutions, GE HealthCare. “We’re also proud to offer a solution that works across different imaging systems and modalities, helping radiology teams streamline operations regardless of their equipment setup.”

As part of this collaboration, GE HealthCare and Starvision are working together to explore the real-world application of remote scanning and advance a future-ready solution. The initiative focuses on driving innovation in imaging operations by addressing change management across multi-site environments, assessing performance and user feedback  in clinical settings, and gathering insights to shape scalable, efficient workflows. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to advancing radiology through meaningful collaboration and technology-driven transformation.

“Remote scanning is a crucial step for us in making radiology fit for the future,” said Maxi Wetzel, Workflow Strategy, Starvision. “By strategically using this digital technology, we can deploy our personnel resources precisely where they are needed, making processes more efficient while also improving the patient experience. In this way, we lay the foundation for modern, digitally connected, and future-proof care.”

The evaluation will conclude next year, offering comprehensive insights into how remote scanning can transform radiology operations in the Germany region and beyond.
