I feel that our apprenticeship program gives us as a company such a huge advantage over our competitors putting us on a different level. Being an apprentice not only boosted my career but reflects that the program works. I am trained on install and system for GEHC in X-ray, R&F and Vascular. Aside from that, GEHC has also invested and sent me to training to learn multivendor X-ray, R&F and vascular. It has been an honor to say, I am an original member of the first GEHC apprentice class.
I have learned so much from my coworkers and have grown through all the wisdom that has been shared with me from everyone on our team. I have gained so much self confidence with all of the support from the apprenticeship program that I now work in a shop by myself, something I never imagined 20 months ago when I started my journey with GE HealthCare. I truly feel like part of the team here.
My experience in the apprentice program was amazing. I was blessed to join a team full of great mentors who taught me what it means to be a Field Engineer. Not that I am a Field Engineer, I have learned that I can make a difference in people's lives, both inside and outside of a healthcare environment, by volunteering in my community, and by being a role model for young women who want to pursue careers in service. All of that has made my job even more fulfilling.
I began my journey within GE as a BMET Apprentice ... I have just accepted the position of Program Coordinator for Las Cruces, NM and El Paso, TX. I attribute a lot of my success to hard work, but the onboarding and apprenticeship program was a major factor in my decision to choose GE. I wasn't even looking for a job at the time I became an apprentice, but the company, integrity and people involved changed that almost immediately.
I started as a Biomed as green as could be, I was hired full time after two months in the program... In January 2023, I was promoted to Field Service Engineer after lots of hard work. I now service CT and Nuclear Medicine modalities. I am thankful for the opportunity I was given through the apprenticeship program which has provided me with multiple opportunities to grow my career with GEHC!
GE HealthCare’s Apprenticeship Program has not only helped me gain experience in the industry but jump started my career in GE. Without the program, I would not be where I am today, a Field Engineer installing, maintaining, and servicing life-changing medical equipment for diagnostic imaging modalities.
