baby-1920x320

November is Prematurity Awareness Month

Every year, 15 million babies around the world are born preterm, before 37 weeks of gestation. However, technological advancements and growing expertise about prematurity are increasing preterm babies’ chances of survival.

Every year on 17 November, it’s the world Prematurity Day that is one of the most important days in the year to raise awareness of the challenges and burden of preterm birth globally, that makes November the Prematurity Awareness Month, and we are sharing the important role we play in sending babies and moms home healthy.

Thank you to the NICU caregivers around the world

At GE HealthCare, we’re working to provide the equipment clinicians need to deliver exceptional care, but it goes beyond the equipment. We would like to thank all the NICU Caregivers for their incredible work they do on a daily basis.

At GE Healthcare, we are taking actions

GE teams from all over EMEA are taking part in raising the awareness of Prematurity Day. Check out their activities and see if you could join us in any way, let’s make a difference together!

Nordic countries

In the Nordics, we’re partnering with four Nordic Prematurity organizations to raise awareness of World Prematurity Day and to drive more attention to preterm birth along with the related challenges. On November 17th, we go purple together. Join us and go purple! Wear purple or decorate with purple where possible!

France

In France this year, the GE employees also have a lot to express in terms of how caring for premature babies mean to them, a video are being developed that you can see the passion. Moreover, an article is written about skin-to-skin care and how that can make a difference.
We are also reaching out to the families that we contacted last year - whose babies received our little giraffe last year as a ‘welcome to the world’ gift - and follow up on how they are doing now!

We appreciate the fact of entrusting the premature infants of Romania to GE Healthcare!
An offline event will be held along the time of Prematurity month in November, more to come and stay tuned!

United Kingdom

The Middle East are celebrating World Prematurity Day this year by raising awareness of the challenges that these special little babies and their families face when they are born too soon. We are creating a World Prematurity Day awareness video, with heartfelt messages from our Middle East team, as well as our own personal experiences of premature birth. On November 17th we are all celebrating going purple with an event in our Pollards Wood Demo Suite, where the brave parents of premature babies will be sharing photos and videos and speaking about their experiences with GE customers and the GE team. We are also creating World Prematurity Day Packages that our team will hand deliver to our customers through the month of November. Many hospitals around the country will be ‘going purple’ on the 17th, and we are excited to celebrate with our customers on this special day.
