3D Thyroid ultrasound innovation: Clinical perspectives on AI-powered sweep-based tomographic ultrasound

Thyroid ultrasound can be challenging, particularly in patients with multiple nodules requiring assessment, measurement, and longitudinal follow-up. In this session, Dr. Henrichsen will introduce an AI-powered sweep-based 3D tomographic ultrasound solution, PIUR tUS inside, integrated as a hosted app on LOGIQ™ ultrasound. She will also discuss its role in supporting a standardized approach to thyroid imaging through automated lobe and nodule detection, measurements, and annotations, while supporting a more efficient workflow.

The session will demonstrate how tomographic and multiplanar imaging extend conventional 2D ultrasound by providing comprehensive visualization of thyroid anatomy and nodules. Through clinical examples, participants will explore applications in surgical planning, treatment guidance, and therapy monitoring, and learn how tomographic ultrasound can enhance reproducibility and consistency in thyroid imaging by looking beyond traditional 2D imaging.

Speakers

Tara Henrichsen, MD, FACR, FSRU

Associate Chair of Staff Development Department of Radiology, Mayo Clinic Rochester

Associate Professor of Radiology, Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine
