GE HealthCare’s Voluson™ Expert 22 Recognized as Best New Ultrasound Technology Solution by MedTech Breakthrough Awards

May 03, 2023

  • Voluson™ Expert 22, one of GE HealthCare’s most advanced ultrasound technologies, produces higher quality images and offers greater flexibility in imaging function

CHICAGO — GE HealthCare (Nasdaq: GEHC) announced today the Voluson™ Expert 22 was named “Best New Ultrasound Technology Solution” in the medical device category of the seventh annual MedTech Breakthrough Awards. The MedTech Breakthrough Awards showcase those products, solutions and organizations that are advancing digital health and medical technologies in a crowded market.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there are more than 3.6 million live births each year in the United States,1 with each pregnancy requiring at least two ultrasounds. The Voluson™ Expert 22 utilizes a powerful, adaptive graphic-based beamformer to provide deeper and more detailed, higher resolution imaging and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to increase exam speed and accuracy.

“We knew we needed to create a stronger, better ultrasound that would give expecting families the best, sharpest, and clearest imaging possible – and peace of mind,” said Gerald Seifriedsberger, General Manager, Women’s Health Ultrasound, GE HealthCare.  “The Voluson™ Expert 22 is our most advanced ultrasound yet that was developed by taking into account how pregnancies are growing increasingly complex. This next generation ultrasound system is not only customizable for today, but its AI technology gives it the opportunity to adapt for the future.”

The Voluson™ Expert 22’s Lyric Architecture, a graphic-based beamformer, allows for more data to be processed in real-time, which generates new levels of penetration and can show sharper, clearer imaging in 2D/3D/4D with ease. With continuing staff shortages, clinicians can save time, steps, and effort by leveraging the power of AI with features like SonoLyst,2 a virtual on-board expert that automatically identifies fetal anatomy seen on standard views while enhancing efficiency by adding annotations and measurements.

In addition, The Voluson™ Expert 22 is equipped with a user-friendly touch panel display and controls that are simple and seamless, and a high-definition ultrasound (HDU) monitor offering three image sizes that allows clinicians to work comfortably and see finer details. Clinicians can also personalize the Voluson™ Expert 22 display according to their unique preferences and the controls by choosing the color of exterior lighting, trackball, and hard and soft keys.
