Cleaning, Disinfection & Gel Products
Before cleaning and disinfecting GE HealthCare ultrasound probes, read the probes processing chapter in the User Manual (“User Manual”) delivered with the GE HealthCare ultrasound system. The User Manual can also be downloaded using the instructions below.
The User Manual contains several cleaning and disinfection methods and products with efficacy validated by GE HealthCare per ISO 17664. The User Manual also describes the appropriate levels of disinfection to be used.
The most recent cleaning and disinfection procedures for GE HealthCare probes are maintained in the Probes Processing Manual and the Transesophageal (TEE) Probes User Manual. These manuals can also be downloaded using the instructions below.
Instructions to download manuals:
- Go to GE HealthCare’s Customer Documentation Portal
- For the complete ultrasound system User Manuals, use the filter drop-down menus and select “Ultrasound” in Modality, name of your ultrasound system in Products, and “User and Operator Manual” in Document Type. Then press the Search button.
- For the Probes Processing Manual, enter reference 5661328 in the search bar and press the Search button.
- For the Transesophageal (TEE) Probes User Manual, enter reference KY092071 in the search bar and press the Search button.
Only use cleaning, disinfection and gel products that GE HealthCare has determined to be compatible with a specific probe. These compatible products are listed on the Care Card delivered with the Probe.
Additional compatible products are listed in the selection tool below, which is updated periodically with new products and probes. Contact a GE HealthCare representative to have additional products evaluated for compatibility.
Additional considerations for compatible products:
- GE HealthCare has not validated the efficacy of every compatible product. Questions related to these products should be directed to the product manufacturer.
- Compatible products might not be available in all regions. Check with local infection control authorities or the product manufacturer.
- Compatible products might cause discoloration to the probe and cable.
- Read the Important Notices below for selected compatible products and probe combinations.
- Select up to 10 transducers from the list on the left to display a list of approved cleaning, disinfectant and gel products.
- Select up to 10 cleaning, disinfectant or gel products from the list on the right to display a list of transducers approved for the selected items.
To select multiple transducers or cleaning, disinfectant or gel products from the list, hold the CTRL key (or Command key on a Mac) while clicking items to select them. Click every item you want to select.
To select multiple transducers or cleaning, disinfectant or gel products that are adjacent in the list, click on the first item and hold the SHIFT key while you click on the last item in the selection.
Once an item is chosen from the list, the other selection box will automatically update with compatible options for your choice(s). See the compatibility table for more information.
