GE Blueprint for Interventional
Improving dose management
It includes low-dose imaging technologies for minimally invasive procedures but also considers people and the culture and processes around them. Our dose management solutions provide healthcare organizations insightful and comprehensive dose information and enable a proactive approach to radiation management.
Visualize estimated cumulated local patient dose all along the exam
Dose Map records and displays the estimated local cumulated dose during procedures performed on your GE Healthcare angiographic system. The calculation and the cumulated local dose is displayed upon user request or upon configured threshold and provides a visualization of the distribution of the local cumulated dose all along the exam as well as the current projection of the beam.
Werner Van den Eynde, Medical Director
Regulating local dose can be a key challenge during interventions, especially in cases like CTOs, multi-stenting, complex ablations and device implants.
Gokhan Gunes, Strategic Manager
Improving dose management takes a strategy - what we call the GE Blueprint. Visualization and recording tools such as GE Dose Map help take this to another level.
Monique Attali, Engineer, Program Manager
The dose distribution is projected on a patient body model that appears as a high-resolution map displayed on the reference monitor next to the live image.
Anne Bessou, Clinical Scientist
We created a powerful algorithm that accounts for many variables that can affect cumulated local dose distribution. The result is a very fine cumulated local dose distribution map all along the exam.
Dose Reduction Features
Our dose reduction features empower you to easily optimize and personalize dose settings from the table-side, while maintaining clinical details you need to help you make well informed decisions.
Choose from up to five automatic exposure preferences for your GE Healthcare angiography system2. You can also have these preferences modified3 in any clinical protocol, to enable multi-procedure, multi-user customization.
An advanced patient contouring technology that uses an intelligent detector to assess movement of the gantry and select the best position for the image receptor relative to the patient. By reducing the distance from the receptor to the patient, the system optimizes imaging geometry and helps reduce radiation exposure.
Allows you to store and instantaneously display loops of the last 450 fluoroscopic images at the push of a button, helping you to reduce the need for extra images and doses. Depending on the frame rate, this translates to a 15- to 60-second imaging period.
Helps you reduce dose exposures through the ability to preview collimator positioning without additional exposure. It enables you to avoid using smaller FOV than needed and position collimator blades without irradiation. Virtual collimation lets you visualize blade positioning via lines displayed over the live image-whether there is an image in place, an LIH, or nothing.
Dose Awareness Solutions
GE's dose solutions provide healthcare organizations insightful and comprehensive dose information and enable a proactive approach to radiation management.

Innova Dose Reports
Provides dose summaries from each interventional system and delivers periodic dose reports by e-mail. You can view dose profiles for specific patient exams that have exceeded the threshold you define and dose-by-procedure reports, identify high-dose cases, and help monitor patient radiation dose levels versus published dose reference levels. Critical information is combined in comprehensive reports to illustrate procedure utilization, dose usage details per procedure, monthly dose utilization trends, benchmarking and more.
A radiation management solution that captures, tracks, reports and monitors radiation dose at the patient level from multiple imaging modalities and manufacturers' systems to help you optimize patient care. DoseWatch tracks dose across CT, Interventional, Mammography, Radiography and Fluoroscopy modalities, regardless of brand, so you can align protocols, reduce variability, and protect both patients and image quality. It's one system that fits both your hospital and your patients.

An active dosimetry system that gives medical personnel real-time insight about their radiation exposure, as well as access to time stamped dose data. By providing easily accessible real-time information about radiation exposure, RaySafe i2 gives staff information allowing them to change their behavior in order to help them minimize their radiation dose.
Dose Efficient Technologies
At GE we design our systems from the ground up with the tried and trusted GE imaging chain optimized to provide the image clarity you need while helping you keeping dose as low as possible.
Detective Quantum Efficiency
The proprietary angiography flat-panel detector offers one of the industry's highest Detective Quantum Efficiency (DQE), a parameter internationally acknowledged as an index of detector performance in contrast- and dose-limited imaging performed in clinical studies. High DQE enables better quality images at the same dose, or the same quality image at a lower dose.
A highly effecient detector even at low dose.
GE interventional systems enable interventionalists to do amazing things in many different situations. Some very challenging. They perform very long procedures where minimizing radiation exposure is critical, and deal with life-and-death emergencies like strokes where excellent image quality is paramount. They treat moving structures like the heart, large organs like the liver as well as small anatomies like brain vessels. At GE, we've chosen to develop the entire image chain of our interventional systems - to ensure that every component is optimized to work harmoniously in unison, to provide the best possible balance between image quality and dose.
High Power Fluoroscopic X-ray Tube
The high power and heat dissipation capability of the fluoroscopic X-ray tube enable spectral filtration for X-ray beam hardening to deliver a highly monochromatic and efficient beam. A harder X-ray beam helps avoid unnecessary absorption by the body, thereby helping to minimize radiation.
Copper Spectral Filters
Copper spectral beam filters located in the collimator are available in several thicknesses and are under automatic system control for versatile, uniform beam hardening performance. Combined with the tube technology, efficient radiation dose management can be achieved.
Dynamic Range Management
Dynamic Range Management (DRM) is designed to help minimize problems with image blackout and burnout by extracting relevant image information, transforming background thicknesses, and then restoring structures of interest.
Our clinical applications training helps to ensure that you are utilizing your GE interventional imaging and invasive systems at their maximum performance and getting the most from the investment you've made. A knowledgeable staff of highly trained Clinical Applications Specialists will help you set-up and use your GE systems.
