This case study involved a 40 year-old man with pneumococcal pneumonia and ARDS, recovering from a severe oxygenation failure. He was sedated and mechanically ventilated.
Gas analysis monitoring followed the changes in VO2 and VCO2 as the work of breathing changed with changes in ventilation.
