Expanding on over 10 years of collaboration, GE Healthcare is building and deploying new analytics solutions on the Microsoft Cloud
There are a lot of uncertainties in healthcare. But value, and digital technology’s role in delivering it, is not one of them. From higher quality to improved population health to lower costs, providers are being pushed to deliver value across financial, operational and clinical metrics. And they can’t do it alone.
Digital solutions – software, analytics and cloud technology – are critical to providers’ and health systems’ journey to value-based care. Acknowledging this, GE Healthcare is expanding upon its long-standing collaboration with Microsoft to build and deploy new solutions on Microsoft Azure.
The goal is to help hospitals and health systems move away from clunky onsite data centers and servers to hosting solutions in the cloud, which can lower costs, increase security, provide flexibility and scalability, and enable real-time maintenance. Think: the ease of storing data, accessing information and upgrading software through your smart phone.
“Healthcare transformation will not happen without digital transformation, and the use of cloud technology to lower costs, increase efficiency and improve the patient experience is central to the journey to value-based care,” said Jonathan Zimmerman, Vice President and General Manager of Value Based Care Solutions, GE Healthcare.
Specifically, GE Healthcare is bringing its Centricity Business revenue cycle management solution to the cloud with Microsoft Azure, which could lead to as much as an immediate 10 percent reduction in costs related to infrastructure. Centricity ShiftSelect, a workforce management solution, has also moved to Microsoft Azure, providing clients with improved scalability and leading-edge security measures.
In addition, Caradigm, a GE Healthcare company offering intelligent healthcare analytics and population health management solutions, is launching a new tool – Caradigm Visual Analytics – built on Microsoft’s Power Business Intelligence (BI) platform. The solution helps healthcare administrators and clinicians better manage, analyze and draw actionable insights from massive amounts of clinical, claim, lab and social data and provides templated and customizable dashboards, reports, charts and graphs to review “What if?” scenarios and their potential impacts on outcomes.

The latest developments in the partnership are being announced at this year’s Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) annual conference.
