IMT Analysis Package
GE’s breakthrough IMT technology gives you a powerful clinical tool to help you detect your patient’s risk for early cardiovascular disease – with unprecedented speed and efficiency.
Recent studies show that thickening of the carotid artery wall is indicative of corresponding hardening and thickening of the coronary arteries. By scanning the carotid artery, and measuring the thickness of its intima and media layers (IMT), clinicians can noninvasively determine a patient’s tendency for atherosclerosis – while the disease is in its early stages and the patient is still asymptomatic.1,2,3

The IMT Measurement Procedure
Click on the image to enlarge.
With IMT technology, clinicians can quickly and easily measure and analyze the intima-media layers – in just a few simple steps.
-
Choose measurement from the M&A menu.
-
Go to an end-diastolic frame with visible intima.
-
Zoom
-
Position start and end of search region.

Customizable IMT Measurement Tools
Customizable IMT measurement tools let you adjust your measurements to obtain the information you need for more accurate assessments:
-
Trace Fit – changes a priori IMT confidence interval.
-
Trace Smooth – changes between default and polynomial-fitted detection.
-
Zoom – offers closer, enlarged look at pixel data.
-
2D Gain – changes image intensity, which can affect contour detection.
-
Scroll – moves to an end-diastolic frame with visible intima.
