Strategies for OR improvement

  • Optimize the Block Schedule using GE's optimizer to consider a broad-set of constraints including procedure demand; CRNA, RN, and tech resources; surgeon availability; technology availability, and room capabilities.
  • Re-engineer critical processes using methodologies, such as Lean and Six Sigma, to improve room turn-around-time and improve on-time starts.
  • Leverage the Change Acceleration Process (CAP) to provide a structured approach to sustaining improvements and promoting adoption of new workflows and processes.
  • Use visual management technology to provide continuous, real-time data about people, processes and mobile assets throughout the OR.
