Dr. Taylor is widely recognized as an authority in critical care education. He has been in critical care practice and directed physician critical care training programs for over 20 years. Dr. Taylor's research interests include respiratory failure and hemodynamic monitoring. He is widely published in these areas. Another career focus has been educational methods in critical care. He has won teaching awards in four academic institutions over the past two decades. Dr. Taylor is co-editor of the comprehensive textbook Critical Care. This book is considered one of the most complete and authoritative works on the field of critical care and is used widely as a study guide by many critical care training programs. Dr. Taylor has edited 17 other books on critical care topics. He has published numerous original scientific investigations on various topics in critical care. Dr. Taylor is a graduate of St. Louis University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO. He a Clinical Professor and Director of the Critical Care Residency Program at St. Louis University and St. John's Mercy Medical Center. Dr. Taylor is a past President of the Society of Critical Care Medicine and has served on the governing council of this organization for the past decade. His primary focus with this academic society is quality improvement in critical care.
