Jackson General opened this dedicated diagnostic imaging center across from the hospital in April, 2001. The 28,000 sq. ft. facility currently serves more than 3,300 patients per month, and is staffed by two full-time radiologists and 25 technologists who rotate between the hospital and the Center. All imaging, PACS, and RIS technology in the Center is from GE Medical Systems. Capabilities include:
-
Mammography - a suite designed to maximize patient privacy and comfort, with 4 rooms and plans for a 5th · Ultrasound - adjacent to mammography, with 2 rooms and space for another
-
CT - 2 scanners · MRI - 2 scanners (one open, one closed-bore)
-
Rad - 2 rooms
-
R/F - 2 rooms
-
PET - to be installed in 2002
-
Patient rooms - 3 holding areas to enable service expansion into short-stay invasive procedures, such as biopsies.
-
Radiology Workstations - 3 in the general work area and 1 in mammography. With the hospital and Center linked via the PACS network, radiology staff at the hospital also can read Center studies, as needed.
-
Centralized scheduling - four full-time staffers schedule all outpatient procedures for the Center and the hospital. The Center currently sees patients from 8am-5pm, Mon-Fri, and is considering extending MRI hours to handle increasing volume. ."
