Barry Runyon

Barry Runyon - Research Director, Gartner, Inc.

Barry Runyon covers the Healthcare IT segment within Gartner Research. Mr. Runyon has approximately 27 years of IT experience inside and outside of the healthcare domain. His research agenda includes underlying and emerging technologies within the healthcare space. He joined Gartner in 2004 and is based in Tucson, Arizona. Prior to joining Gartner, Mr. Runyon held lead architect and technical management positions with both consulting and vendor organizations, and most recently served as CTO of a university teaching hospital. He was involved very early with the development of HL7 while consulting at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Runyon is interested in the various technical disciplines and methodologies underlying the definition, design, development and deployment of healthcare applications and systems.

Jorge Cerda

Jorge Cerda - Vice President Operations, GE Healthcare

Jorge Cerda is the Vice President of Operations for GE Healthcare and has over 20 years of information technology services experience. Prior to this current role, Jorge served as national vice president of outsourcing operations for McKesson Information Services' division. His management expertise includes technology implementation, support and development services, and executive-level healthcare management and operations.

He has held positions as chief information officer at two integrated health networks: Maricopa Integrated Health Systems, a network including a 650-bed hospital and 27 outpatient facilities in Phoenix, Ariz., and St. Mary of Nazareth Hospital, a 525-bed hospital with 10 outpatient facilities in Chicago, Ill. He was instrumental in guiding Maricopa back to profitability and helped St. Mary's realize significant savings in annual operating costs.
