MG - ACuscan Cardiac Attenuation correction
Millennium ACuscan is the non-uniform attenuation correction option for the Millennium MG, and MyoSIGHT systems. It provides the means to measure patient-specific attenuation effects on SPECT and Gated SPECT cardiac data.
Millennium ACuscan is comprised of two moving line sources, which transmit Gamma radiation through the patient. The transmission data is acquired across the entire field-of-view (FOV) of both detectors during the acquisition of an emission SPECT/Gated SPECT scan. The transmission data is used for correction of the emission data, resulting in reduced attenuation artifact images. ACuscan is designed to handle primarily cardiac SPECT and Gated SPECT artifacts, especially those attributed to the highly attenuated uptake of in-depth myocardial tissue.
With this optional capability, the Millennium MG/MyoSIGHT systems can compensate for non-uniform attenuation that can cause artifacts in SPECT studies - artifacts that can potentially lead to false-positive findings, necessitating costly follow-up procedures.
An in-depth description of the ACuscan attenuation correction solution can be found in the comprehensive ACuscan Attenuation Correction Brochure.
