Patient History:
73 year old female, with a history of colon cancer with multiple liver metastases. Undergoing a work-up for regional liver chemotherapy.
|
Imaging Procedure:
- The patient was injected via IV with 10.2 mCi of F-18 FDG.
- Coincidence imaging was started 2 hours 25 minutes post injection, followed immediately by the Functional Anatomical Mapping/ attenuation correction scan.
- Total acquisition time of 40 minutes.
- Image reconstruction slice thickness of 8 mm.
|
Findings:
FDG Coincidence image with attenuation correction shows multiple foci of uptake of isotope in the liver, and a questionable area of uptake near the lower thoracic spine. Assessment of extent of disease into the lower thoracic spine is difficult without anatomic information.
|
Reimbursement:
G0163PET- Recurrence of colorectal or colorectal metastatic cancer.
|
Clinical Impact - The FAM Advantage
Co-registration of the functional imaging (coincidence) with the anatomic map confirms the existence of multiple metastases in the liver and localization
of one lesion in the lower thoracic spine. As a result of these findings, this patient will not benefit from regional hepatic therapy.
