Discovery MR Full Service (Class/Lab)

Executive Summary:
This 9-day training program will be available to all MR Service Engineers (SEs) with sites upgrading to Discovery MR (750 and 450) as well as those receiving Discovery MR as part of forward production. The Discovery MR System class/lab provides the instructional and hands-on opportunities for the student to acquire the fundamental competencies to effectively and safely service the Discovery MR System.

MR Full Service (Class/Lab)

Executive Summary:
The MR Full Service will equip the Service Engineer with system and subsystem theory and hands-on lab activities to address technical service issues for the Signa LX and Excite product families.

Course Competencies:
Upon successfully completing this course, the student should be able to do the following:

  • Identify required tools and documentation for system service
  • Work safely in the magnetic field environment
  • Identify FRU part numbers, and replace common FRUs
  • Identify the installation steps and resources required for system installation
  • Perform system quality assurance checks and performance verification
  • Troubleshoot image quality issues
  • Perform alignments, calibrations, and image quality checks
  • Isolate system faults to the FRU level using system diagnostics
  • Perform planned maintenance procedures
  • Load software (LFC) during install or troubleshooting

  • MR Signa 3.0T Excite Certificate (Class/Lab)

    Executive Summary:
    The MR 3.0T Excite Certificate course is a full service course designed to address the differences in service techniques and calibrations between the 1.5T family of products and the 3.0T. Emphasis is placed on safely working in the 3.0T environment, utilizing the unique service tools required for installation and service and calibration/fault analysis of 3.0T specific subsystems. Ramping and shimming of the LCC300 magnet are discussed/demonstrated to prepare the service engineer to support their MAC Team representative during installation.

    Course Competencies:

  • Identify required tools and documentation for system service
  • Work safely in the 3.0T magnetic field environment
  • Identify FRU part numbers, and replace common FRUs
  • Perform system quality assurance checks and performance verification
  • Troubleshoot image quality issues

  • Perform planned maintenance procedures
  • Ramp & Park the LCC300 magnet within specifications
  • Perform Passive and Supercon shimming to the required specification
  • Demonstrate the assembly and safe use of all specialized 3.0T service tools

  • MR Ovation/Profile Full Service Training (Class/Lab)

    Prerequisite Course Material:

    Executive Summary:
    The MR Signa Ovation/Profile Full Service class will equip the Service Engineer with system and subsystem theory and hands-on lab activities to address technical service issues for the Signa Ovation and Signa Profile product families. Due to the similarities of construction and process, both products will be taught on the Ovation system. Both Excite and TPS versions will be discussed through Ovation 5 and Profile HD configurations.

    Course Competencies: Upon successfully completing this course, the student should be able to do the following:

  • Identify required tools and documentation for system service
  • Work safely in a permanent magnet environment
  • Identify FRU part numbers, and replace common FRUs
  • Identify the installation steps and resources required for system installation
  • Perform system quality assurance checks and performance verification
  • Demonstrate understanding of product configuration differences
  • Perform alignments, calibrations, and image quality checks
  • Isolate system faults to the FRU level using system diagnostics
  • Perform planned maintenance procedures

    Executive Summary:
    The MR Signa Excite HDe Full Service class will equip the Service Engineer with system and subsystem theory and hands-on lab activities to address technical service issues for the Signa HDe product family. This course is designed as a differences course focusing on the differences between HDe and forward production HD/HDx systems.

    Course Competencies:

  • Identify required tools and documentation for system service
  • Work safely in the magnetic field environment
  • Identify FRU part numbers, and replace common FRUs
  • Identify the installation steps and resources required for system installation
  • Perform system quality assurance checks and performance verification

  • MR Advanced Service Training (Class/Lab)

    Prerequisite Course Material:

    Executive Summary:
    Service Training course will cover Image Quality, Applications and Interpretation of MR physics and tests that lead to successful troubleshooting at an advanced service level. This course will use multiple GE product offerings at various field strengths throughout the course. Prerequisites apply.

    Course Competencies:

    • Demonstrate safe practices relating to the following hazards and dangers as they apply to the MR environment (Radiation, Energy Control and Power Lockout, Cryogens, Hazardous Materials, and Mechanical Hazards)
    • Interpret the results of application issues for MR Imaging Systems software
    • Troubleshoot a variety of Pulse Sequence Database (PSD) issues related to applications problems to resolve system problems
    • Troubleshoot using software tools and diagnostics to minimize customer down time
    • Troubleshoot image quality issues
    • Identify and operate MR Imaging System hardware components in order to evaluate their function
    • Assure customer satisfaction with service
