Executive Summary:

This course provides the individual with the practical skills to service the Siemens E-Cam NT System. Providing familiarity with the system as well as the basic skills and knowledge necessary to perform first-call field service and PMs. After completion of this course, the service engineer will be able to safely assess faults within the E-Cam system, acquire and view flood images, conduct maintenance checks, perform corrective mechanical maintenance, and return a system to operational status. ICON computer operation is also covered. Access to "Standard Plus" diagnostics is not assumed. The topics include: Course Intro, Safety-lecture, High-Level Overview of the System Operation, Safe Cover Removal, Mechanics of System Operation and Component Location Overview, and focus on hands-on troubleshooting.


EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

  • Perform all system related tasks safely
  • Remove all covers safely
  • Identify mechanical & electrical safety hazards
  • Navigate the system's ePST or OEM source document or other resources
  • Recognize major components of the system and explain how they work together in the image chain
  • Bring the system up from "cold"
  • Perform the correct power up/shutdown procedures for the ICON computer
  • Acquire and display a quality image on the ICON
  • Remove and replace collimators
  • Safely shutdown the system
  • Explain/perform principal internal mechanics of the system for positioning the gantry, acquiring a study, and displaying a study
  • Perform axis alignments & calibrations
  • Actuate gantry motions using the hand control
  • Perform major motion calibrations
  • Explain "E-Stop" operation
  • Check and adjust detector power supplies
  • Given an error code or description of the most common system failures, identify and troubleshoot problem's source and repair system to operational status

Completion of R0161CT: FI Fundamentals provides a path for entry-level NM Service Engineers
