Executive Summary:

This course is designed for those with little or no previous experience with the ADAC VERTEX Plus with EPIC detectors and Automatic Collimator Exchanger gamma camera system. This course will provide the participants with the skills and knowledge defined in the competency section by means of classroom theory and hands-on labs. This course also provides the basic skills and procedures necessary to perform first-call field service on the ADAC Peg/Atlas platform.


EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of this class, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify general safety hazards and comply with all safety precautions while operating and servicing the system.
  • Identify, utilize and interpret ADAC documentation.
  • Operate the system to verify proper operation and duplicate user complaints
  • Locate major system sub sections / components and describe their function.
  • Relate all system error codes to the appropriate sub system.
  • Calibrate all Gantry & Exchanger motions.
  • Calibrate the Detectors.
  • Perform a Ring Cable replacement.
  • Diagnose and repair the system to the board / assembly level.
  • Describe the functions of the Atlas Acquisition PC.
  • Open a UNIX window and utilize basic UNIX commands to move throughout the file system.
  • Troubleshoot the Ethernet connection
  • Properly boot and login to Peg/Atlas.
  • Properly logout or shutdown Peg/Atlas.
  • Troubleshoot the Peg/Atlas hardware.
  • Utilize all available system diagnostics.
  • Work safely with liquid radioactive sources in a clinical environment.
  • Perform the semi-annual PM procedure.

Note- UNIX or Linux background helpful but not required.
