Wireless in the Healthcare IT Environment

Wireless in the Healthcare IT Environment Class

Managing the wireless systems in healthcare presents its own set of unique challenges. Telemetry, WiFi patient monitoring, active and passive RFID, and cellular communications are critical to quality patient care. GE’s new course, Wireless in the Healthcare IT Environment, explores RF propagation, frequencies for specific healthcare services, and network topologies and their hardware.

Gain hands-on experience performing site surveys for WMTS and WiFi patient monitoring. Using a spectrum analyzer and software tools, scan the RF environment for interference and search out ways to mitigate risk through system design and filtering. You will also configure access points to build a secure 802.11b network.

Understand wireless patient monitoring and the significance of WMTS. Also covered are transfer of information, signal dropout, access point configuration, wireless VLANS, RFID, and cellular communications.
