Case Study Review for the Assessment of LV Function-TVI

This program specifically targets Cardiac sonographers, Cardiologists, Diagnostic medical sonographers, radiologic technologists as well as nurses who are interested in increasing their knowledge on this topic. While not limited to this audience, the technical content will be most effective when applied to people with this training.

Diastolic dysfunction is defined as a patient with heart failure symptoms who has left ventricular ejection fraction of greater than 50%. The case studies will demonstrate the techniques of assessing LV diastolic function and filling pressures including the use of tissue velocity imaging.

After reviewing these case studies you should be able to:

  • Identify echocardiographic measurements which are used to evaluate diastolic function
  • Appraise the benefits of Tissue Velocity Imaging in the evaluation of diastolic function
  • Identify anatomic locations which are visualized using TVI
