Course Overview

Visiting fellowships consist of daily one-hour lectures; live case demonstrations and progressing to workstation reconstruction. This is ideal for the Level 1 Masters Series Course graduates seeking a higher confidence level but not beyond the learning capabilities of a beginner. Students will be trained to use both 16 and 64 slice MDCT technology, but live cases will be conducted on only the 64 slice scanner. Dr. Dowe uses GE Healthcare's 64 slice Volume CT and the latest Advantage Workstation. Over 50 Cardiac CT cases will be supervised and interpreted. A typical day will start promptly at 8:00am and end at approximately 4:30pm with a morning lecture from 8:00am-9:00am. Live cases will be scheduled preferentially in the morning (facility goal is to scan 20 patients a day). Dr. Dowe will immediately reconstruct cases, and patients will be given their results with the visiting fellow present. As the week progresses the fellow will begin setting up the protocol for patients and will eventually process the cases on an independent workstation. Those findings are evaluated and compared to Dr. Dowe's reconstruction. Independent study time and teaching file evaluation will be in the afternoon. Lunch will be provided.

Previous basic Advantage Workstation experience recommended.
