Using the Visual Guide

This Educational Toolkit is designed for radiologists and cardiologists who want to learn how to interpret cardiac CT angiography images. It includes 50 Cardiac CTA cases in two binders. The first binder consists of 30 cardiac CTA cases, which have correlating cardiac catheterization exams. All 30 cases have multiphase image data to evaluate coronary function and 25 of them also include non-contrast image data to obtain a calcium score. The second binder consists of 20 cardiac CTA cases. All 50 case studies include cardiac CTA impressions as well as a detailed description of findings under each reference image, which are provided by an expert interpreter.

The cases in the teaching file consist of a broad mix of exams including: congenital anomalies, coronary atherosclerosis, coronary aneurysms and coronary arteries that are status-post percutaneous coronary intervention as well as bypass graft placement. By processing these 50 cases, reviewing the coronary CTA and cardiac catheterization findings, and reviewing the teaching points, one should expect to gain, at the very least, a basic knowledge of a broad spectrum of findings detected during coronary CTA.

All cases can be loaded, reviewed, and manipulated on the Advantage Workstation. Other features include blank reporting forms for note taking during case reviews for both cardiac CTA and cardiac catheterization cases and a blank log sheet for SCCT credentialing.

These 50 cases can be used toward Level 1 and Level 2 Cardiac CT credentials based on criteria established by the Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography (SCCT).

Education – The Key to Success for Cardiac CT Angiography

"... coronary CTA is already an effective method to help diagnose and rule out coronary artery disease and heart disease... if no disease is found on a coronary CTA, the reader can confidently conclude that the patient does not need other cardiac testing. With improvements and advancements being made to the resolution of CT scans, coronary CTA will continue to be an important tool in diagnosing heart disease."
