Michael J. Barber is a GE Officer, Vice President and head of healthymagination, GE's global commitment to reduce costs, improve quality and expand access of healthcare for millions of people.

Since 2005, Barber was the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for GE Healthcare. He also served as Technology Leader for GE Healthcares Global Diagnostic Imaging business.

A 27-year GE veteran, Mike started with GE in 1981 and has had a variety of roles within GE Healthcare. In 2001, Mike was General Manager for Components Engineering, and from 2002 to 2005 he was the General Manager for Global Components Operations for GE Healthcare.

Mike has held various engineering design and leadership positions at GE Healthcare. He started as an electronics design engineer in the X-ray Product Development Group, developed the control architecture (Advantx) for the X-ray product line as a software project leader, managed the Hardware, Firmware and Diagnostics team at CT, and managed the Functional Engineering team in the MR business. Mike returned to X-ray as the Manager of the Digital X-ray Detector Platform, which replaced the need for film in X-ray procedures.

Mike is an active champion of GE's African American Forum and has also served as chair of the Milwaukee Chapter of GE Volunteers (a volunteer organization of GE employees). He was named to the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Top 40 under 40 in 1997.

Mike has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering.
