Vishal Wanchoo is President and CEO of GE Healthcare Integrated IT Solutions, a global leader in Healthcare Information Technology. Headquartered outside of Chicago in Barrington, Illinois, the Integrated IT Solutions business is comprised of digital technologies that blend imaging, clinical and business information systems together to create a complete electronic health record.

With more than 25 years of healthcare and IT experience, Vishal is working to provide the “virtual” backbone to deliver the promise of early health through a connected digital community. He has been a pioneer in developing the intricate design of electronic health records, including software for use in both hospital and physician office settings. Vishal has helped build GE Healthcare’s recognition as a leader in providing standards-based, non-proprietary interoperability solutions in its diagnostic imaging, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) and clinical information system offerings. He is committed to working closely with healthcare providers as well as legislative and professional organizations to evaluate the clinical IT structure of customers and to develop and institute technologies that integrate and work in tandem to suit the needs of healthcare professionals.

Vishal and his team are deeply involved with the US healthcare IT organizations working to get electronic health records adopted by most healthcare organizations within 10 years. By partnering with organizations like EHRVA – the Electronic Health Record Vendors' Association (EHRVA), the not-for-profit Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), and Interconnecting the Health Enterprise (IHE), Vishal’s vision is to build a longitudinal patient record that allows healthcare providers to better predict, diagnose, inform, and treat disease. This will create medicine that is not limited by time, location, specialty, discipline or geography.

Vishal started his career with GE in November 1997 as Vice President and General Manager of the GE Healthcare Imaging Information Systems organization, where he was responsible for the development and marketing of Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS). In January of 2005, Vishal was promoted to President and CEO of Healthcare Information Technology and made a Corporate Officer.

Before joining GE Healthcare, Vishal was vice president of Electronic Imaging at Agfa Medical, where he created and developed Agfa’s PACS business. He started his career as a software engineer at Matrix Instruments, and was promoted through the engineering ranks to Director of Engineering. Vishal holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and a Master of Science in computer engineering from the University of Southern California.
