Advanced applications make Discovery CT750 HD a valuable tool for delivering the best patient care. Gemstone Spectral Imaging provides an entirely new path for diagnostic imaging, while extended coverage is achieved by exclusive VolumeShuttle™ and Volume Helical Shuttle techniques.

Gemstone Spectral Imaging | Extended coverage

Exclusive to the Discovery CT750 HD, Gemstone Spectral Imaging expands the information available for clinical diagnosis and workflow in two key areas.

Material Separation

To aid with the characterization of pathology, Gemstone Spectral Imaging uses dual-energy acquisition, potentially enhancing the ability to characterize lesions through the separation of materials such as water, calcium and iodine.

Virtual non-IV contrast imaging
Gemstone Spectral Imaging can subtract iodine from images to generate a non-IV contrast like image. Note the kidney stone is obscured in the IV contrast image, but visualized in the water density image (non-IV contrast like image). The stone was confirmed and similar in appearance in the actual non-IV contrast image.
Enhancing image quality with the spectral image

To enable image contrast optimization, accurate CT numbers and up to a 50% reduction in common beam-hardening artifacts, the spectral image is created as though it comes from a single kilovolt source. Individual spectral images can be derived from 101 user-selectable energy levels.
