GE Healthcare's Position Statement on United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) published recommendations for breast cancer screening in the United States. We received the recommendations for breast cancer screening issued by the United States Preventive Services Taskforce (USPSTF). GE Healthcare believes it is for the medical community, payors, insurers and national screening programs to review and make recommendations on the most clinically effective and appropriate protocols for breast cancer screening in their country, based on the best available independent scientific evidence. There is considerable evidence breast cancer screening saves lives in a wide range of populations. The USPSTF recommendations diverge from trends in countries with established national breast cancer screening programs, where the trend of many governments is toward screening earlier and on an annual basis similar to the longstanding success of the screening program in the United States. GE Healthcare has long recognized the importance of early detection in the US. The company has provided on-site digital mammography screening center for its employees and their loved ones at its Waukesha, WI facility since 2000. GE's commitment is to provide the most effective tools possible for the early detection of breast cancer. We welcome further ongoing clinical evidence collection that continues to help inform policymakers in optimizing screening programs for their citizens.
