Dow Wilson
General Manager, Global CT
GE Medical Systems
Hi, I'm Dow Wilson, General Manager of the CT business at GE Medical Systems and welcome to this year's American College of Cardiology.
In the CT business at GE we're very excited about this year's show. It's the first time ever we've had such a major presence at the American College of Cardiology. Come by the booth and see our new GE LightspeedTM CV -- CV for cardiovascular -- and see why we're excited.
With the introduction of our GE LightspeedTM two years ago and our first multi-slice CT scanner, we have seen a veritable explosion of applications. These applications have been in many, many different areas, but the one that we're most excited about at this year's show is in the area of cardiology. The GE LightspeedTM CV enables doctors two new exciting applications. First of all is in the area of calcium scoring. Our product SmartScore enables clinicians to give their patients an understanding of their risk of cardiovascular disease.
A second is in the differential diagnosis of chest pain. Many patients come to the hospital emergency room with chest pain. CT has for a long time been an invaluable tool in helping doctors rule out aortic dissection or pulmonary emboli. But now with the new cardiac capabilities of our GE LightspeedTM CV, doctors can also give their patients an understanding of their calcium score, of their calcium risk as well as even look at, with our coronary artery imaging works in progress, a look at stenosis and other obstruction of coronary arteries.
Come by the booth and see why, at this year's ACC, we are so excited about what CT can do in cardiology.
