GE's global Corporate
R&D Organization
The John F. Welch
Technology Centre inaugurated on September 17th, is an integral part of
GE's global Corporate R&D organization to conduct research, development
and engineering for all of GE's diverse businesses worldwide. The Centre
was inaugurated by Mr. S.M. Krishna, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Karnataka
in the presence of Mr. John F. Welch Jr., GE Chairman & CEO.
"A truly
global company will be the one that uses the intellect and resources of
every corner of the world," said Mr. Welch.
"As GE
continues the push into new technology frontiers and provides world-class
products and services to our customers, we need to look at research and
devlopment through a global prism. The opening of this Technology Centre
marks a new level of commitment by GE in India."
Mr. S.M. Krishna called
the establishment of the Centre in Bangalore a testament to India's capability
and expertise in delivering world-class research, development and technology
solutions for global businesses."We pledge our support to the
efforts of this Centre that will help enhance the multi-disciplinary engineering
and R&D capabilities in our state of Karnataka and the entire country,"
he said.
"We are
truly excited by the high quality Indian talent that have come together
from all over the world in such a short time to join our Centre"
said Mr. Jean M. Heuschen, Vice President and Managing Director of
the John F. Welch Technology Centre. "As we move into our Centre
we are well positioned to leverage India's unique multi-disciplinary skills,
from engineering and science to information technology to innovate for
the benefit of our customers worldwide."
Hon'ble Chief Minister,
Mr. S.M. Krishna, recalled that 100 years back Diwan's of Mysore went
in search of power turbine and selected GE. Thanks to GE service and technology,
even today they are working satisfactorily! Intellectual talent at the
new centre would be key to GE's technology leadership in the future.
Wipro GE, GE BEL
and GE X-Ray today have 400 scientists and engineers engaged in design,
development and research on medical products. JFW Centre will greatly
help the team to scale new heights with core technology to bring good
things to life.
