The 12,500th Ultrasound
Machine from Wipro GE
GE Ultrasound has
been collaborating with the clinical community to provide unsurpassed
clinical performance and enhanced productivity, and now with the continued
support of the medical fraternity, the ultrasound business at Wipro GE
has been growing from strength to strength. The current manufacturing
facility started manufacture in 1992, and has been continually expanded
with state-of-the-art plant and equipment, technical manpower and space.
The Ultrasound manufacturing
facility has now passed a landmark number in equipment shipped - The 12,500th
unit was shipped out on September 18th out of the Bangalore manufacturing
facility.
To commemorate this
event, GE Chairman & CEO, Mr. John F. Welch, during his visit to India
handed over the 12,500th Ultrasound equipment to a star ViP of ours -
Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Adonis Medical Services Pvt. Ltd. in our Bangalore
facility.
Clinical Roundtable
with Indian Luminaries on September 16, 2000 :
Leading clinical researchers
in radiology, cardiology and neurosurgery attended the Clinical Round
Table at Wipro GE on September 16, 2000, moderated by Prof. (Dr.) Kakarla
Subba Rao. The meeting took stock of the research opportunities for GE
with clinical collaborators in India.
Mr. Prasanna kicked
off the meeting highlighting the potential for great collaborative work
that GE can undertake in India. Dr. Ramesh Venkatesan, Principal Scientist
- Advanced Applications then presented an overview of the collaborative
research conducted at Manipal Hospital and Escorts Heart Institute focussing
on the global linkages in the work done at these two sites. This has resulted
in customer- driven products delivered by MR developed and optimized in
collaboration with these two research sites. Mr. Saragnese, Vice President
- Technology,
GE Medical Systems then spoke on GE's directions in Clinical Research.
He spoke on what was required to make clinical research successful :
- a statement of
the"scope of the work" (common interests, common and defined
objectives and well-understood and documented expectations)
- a "clear-cut
plan" (dedicated resources and defined timeline for the deliverables)
and
- a "Platform"
(state-of-the-art equipment and patient flow).
Following the discussion,
Prof. (Dr.) Rao summarized the voice of the Indian clinical researcher.
Luminaries later participated in the inauguration of John F. Welch Technology
Centre.
