GE Cardiology Seminar
Leading
cardiologists from Bangalore, Dr S S Ramesh and Dr Ravi Kishore shared
the stage with Dr Fredrick Robertson, CEO of GE Marquette to highlight
the role of newer technologies in cardiac screening and the use of electrophysiology
in the lab in Bangalore on May 24, 2000.
Mentioning
that the challenges in front of health care providers, worldwide were
by and large similar and revolve around lesser budgets, spiralling costs
and ever increasing acuity levels of patients, together with the problem
of medical equipment getting obsolete, Dr Robertson shared with the audience
of leading cardiologists from South India the evolution of new patient
monitoring technologies which will enhance better patient care in a very
cost effective manner in the times to come. He mentioned that the approach
was to track more accurately the movement in vital signs parameters that
affect the overall physical conditions of the patient in specific care
areas.
Dr Ramesh
talked about the various non-invasive diagnostic screening technologies
which were helping the medical fraternity to fight with the increasing
numbers of cardiac patients in our country. He complimented GE on being
the first company to offer complete cardiology solutions starting from
an ECG machine to complete cathlab solutions using both the fixed lab
and the revolutionary GE -OEC lab which provides the optimum mix of set
up and running cost vis- a-vis throughput in a new cardiac centre.

Cardiology - Cardiac
Scan Centre, May 15, 2000.
Expanding
on the role of electrophysiology (EP) in the Cathlab, Dr Ravi Kishore
focused on new application technologies. Mentioning how the information
gathered has increased using EP equipment with more number of channels,
he stressed that dedicated EP equipment were the need of the hour to manage
tricky cases. Dr Kishore felt that the GE PRUCKA association was another
step in completing the cardiology portfolio and would be well appreciated
by cardiologists all over the world.

Dr Ravi
Kishore, Dr. S S Ramesh, and Dr Fredrick Robertson
In the panel
discussion following the clinical seminar, the focus was on providing
timely and cost effective cardiac care. The emerging role of telemedicine
and use of the Internet to leverage technologies to reach out to people
in remote locations was well appreciated by the audience.
