Durdans Heart Centre a collaboration between Durdans Hospital and Escorts Heart Institute & Research Centre (EHIRC), was inaugurated recently at Colombo. Present at the inauguration were the Minister of Health, Hon. John Seneviratne, the Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Mr. H.E. Gopal Krishna Gandhi, Padma Bhushan Dr. Naresh Trehan, Executive Director & Chief Cardio Vascular Surgeon of EHIRC, the strategic partner of Durdans Heart Institute & Research Centre and Mr. D.A. Prasanna, CEO - GEMS-SA & SEA.

The Durdans Heart Centre uses GE's Advantx LC+ Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and is currently one of the busiest centres in Sri Lanka, performing angiographies as well as complex percutaneous trans- thoracic procedures. The centre under the dynamic Chairmanship of Mr. Ajith Tudawe, currently attracts all the leading cardiologists of the country, and has built a formidable reputation in the short period of time since GE commissioned the Cathlab.

In a ceremony during the inauguration, Padma Bhushan, Dr. Naresh Trehan and Mr. Prasanna addressed a gathering of leading Consultant Cardiologists, Surgeons and representatives of the business community. The presentations focused on advancements in Diagnostic Cardiology, equipment, procedures, and notably some of the recent developments and breakthroughs at EHIRC, New Delhi and how these could be translated to centres such as Durdans Hospital.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. D.A. Prasanna, CEO - GEMS-SA & SEA said "Globalisation of the Sri Lankan economy is a good opportunity for us to bring our global experience here."

Digital Cardiac Cathlab from GE has been chosen by Suwasevena Cardiac Hospital in Kandy.

GE Imaging System are customer's first choice in Maldives. GE CT, Ultrasound and X-Ray are working satisfactorily at Indira Gandhi Hospital and other diagnostic centres in Maldives.
