Jeffrey Immelt - President
& Chairman - Elect
General Electric Company
Jeffrey R. Immelt, 44,
was named President & Chairman-Elect of the General Electric Company in
November 2000. Previously he was President & Chief Executive Officer of
GE Medical Systems.
Jeff (as he is called) began
his career in 1982 in Corporate Marketing was appointed President & CEO
of GE Medical Systems in 1997. He visited India every year to study the
market and the changing requirements of hospitals. He also developed India
as a global base for manufacturing and engineering.
Jeff was inspirational for
a series of associations like Manipal, NIMS, Apollo, TMH and Escorts.
He said “Very soon we will have relationships with about 5-10 hospitals
in India much like our association abroad with hospitals like John Hopkins
Institute and Mayo Clinic”.
