How Customers Win with GE Marquette

Excerpts of the Interview with Dr. Upendra Kaul,
Director, Interventional Cardiology & Cardiac ElectroPhysiology,
Batra Hospital & Medical Research Centre, New Delhi

I HAVE USED Marquette Monitoring Systems and Cathlab for the last two decades and found them very reliable and user friendly. In fact, they are the best companions to an aggressive cardiologist. We use the Marquette MAC-lab recording system. The system is very fast and sturdy, and facilitates fast report generation. It has helped us obtain maximum outputs from the lab in terms of preparing reports and patient changeover.

We have chosen Marquette Systems as they offer many innovative features like True Modular, uninterrupted Patient Transport Concept, 12SL algorithms, cardiac calculations, multi-lead ECG analysis, multi-lead ST analysis. These are very helpful in effective patient care management and, most important, timely after sales support. We are impressed with the Marquette Unity Concept and would definitely look for the possibility to add these in our future plans.

We are extremely happy with the Marquette product performance and now with the GE acquisition, we expect more effective and improved service support.

I would definitely recommend GE Marquette products to other doctors.

Gold Standard in Computerized ECG Analysis

12SL ECG Analysis Program

INTRODUCED IN 1980, the GE Marquette 12SL ECG analysis program is a computer program for analyzing simultaneously acquired 12-lead ECGs. It makes precise measurements of recorded cardiac signals, then provides an interpretation of the ECG waveforms using classic and newly developed ECG interpretation criteria for both rhythm and morphology. Additionally, it works in synchrony with the Marquette MUSE ® CV cardiovascular management system’s serial comparison program, which uses both 12SL program statements and waveform measurements to interpret the patient’s clinically significant ECG changes.

12SL development strategy

A higher level of accuracy is ensured by acquiring an unmatched collection of clinically correlated and “gold standard” validated databases used to evaluate, verify and improve the program’s performance. In addition, there are quick follow ups on feedback provided by our Cardiology sales force and also via user mail.

The benefits of 12SL

*Accurate, validated measurements of heart rate, axis, intervals and durations * Age driven interpretation criteria * Objectivity, through its uniform consistent interpretation criteria * Computerized algorithm for easy reproducibility * Efficiency and speed * New interpretive information and easy measurements of difficult and time consuming calculations

For the less experienced interpreter, 12SL provides...

* An automated second opinion: “gold standard” verified accuracy * Additional findings and a targeted review of the ECG tracing * Feedback for accurate ECG interpretations

It helps the more experienced interpreter by...

* Saving time spent reading the ECG * Providing a back up opinion with subtle findings * Reducing intra-over reader variability and establishing the practice of confirmed diagnosis

The 12SL program today

GE Marquette has pioneered the technology and expertise to take 12SL out of the hospital, to the patient by its multi-platform operation. Currently, 12SL exists in the pre-hospital environment, emergency department, general hospital departments, CCU/ICU, exercise testing labs, clinics and physicians’ offices.
