How to verify your current software version

  1. Locate the Vision Copyright window located at the top of the screen and record the displayed Software Version (e.g. 5.1.0).






    How to determine your CPU ID
  2. Double-click on the Terminal icon  to open a terminal window.
  3. With the pointer positioned in the terminal window, perform the following applicable step to display the system-specific CPU ID. Record the displayed hexadecimal number (e.g. 000096545800):
    • For any Software Version prior to 6.0.0, type uname -m [Enter].
    • For Software Version 6.0.0 or subsequent, type keyid [Enter].
  4. With the pointer positioned in the terminal window, depress and hold Alt key, depress and release F4 key, and release Alt key to close terminal window.




    How to select the package you want to try
  5. Return the GE Community Page @ www.gemedicalsystems.com with your system CPU ID to obtain the appropriate license.
  6. Once you have obtained an email from GE Medical Systems containing the FlexTrial license key, continue with this procedure.





    How to install the license key
  7. Prior to installing the license key, save the FlexTrial email attachment containing the requested license key to a 3.5 in. floppy disk.
  8. Insert the floppy disk into the floppy drive at the POWERstation.
  9. Double-click on the terminal icon to open a terminal window.
  10. With the pointer positioned in the terminal window, type the following to initiate installation of eFlexTrial license key from floppy disk:
    • su -c "mtype a:license.txt >> $DATA/.license" [Enter]
    • The system responds with the following:
      root's Password:
  11. Type vision [Enter] to append FlexTrial license key to existing license key file on hard drive.
  12. With the pointer positioned in the terminal window, depress and hold Alt key, depress and release F4 key, and release Alt key to close terminal window. Installation is complete.
