6.2.6 - Sagittal Images

Series 6
Sagittal images are performed using T1 contrast, and a fat-suppressed, T2-weighted sequence. The function of sagittal images is to evaluate carpal alignment and assess volar and dorsal margins of the TFCC. Sagittal images should cover from the extensor carpi ulnaris tendon to the first extensor compartment. (Fig. 6.2)

Fat-suppressed T2-weighted FSE sagittal image is used to evaluate carpal alignment, articular cartilage, and secondary visualization of ligaments (eg. deltoid ligaments).
