The coronal
T2-weighted images (Fig. 8.4) are prescribed to
match the coronal T1-weighted images. These images
are useful for detection of marrow edema, injuries
to the collateral ligaments, and cartilage defects.

Fat suppression
is used to improve visualization of fluid signal.
Extending the bandwidth to 20-22 kHz allows 512
matrix imaging without an increase in the scan time.
Note that the echo time may be reduced to 40-60
msec to improve the SNR of these images.
