On Image Navigation

The iDrivePro Real Time Interactive scan control tool represents a new approach to MRI that allows the operator to tailor the MR exam to the Patients Anatomy and Pathology in real time to provide a better MR Exam. Interactive imaging with iDrive brings Certainty to Uncertain Dynamic events. (require iDrive Basic)

iDrive Control Screen

Short Axis Cardiac Image

Features:
The ability of an MRI user to simply create, alter & view information in real time for the purposes of obtaining better, more precise information about the patient being imaged. Interactive imaging will enable the following.
  • MR Fluoroscopy
  • Rapid Assessment of anatomy to help determine disease extent & manifestation
  • Rapid Localization & iRX of complex anatomy

To simply create, alter & view information in real time to provide for more precision requires and iDrivePro Provides;

  • Fast Imaging Sequences
  • Real Time Image Reconstruction
  • Simultaneous Scan & Reconstruction
  • Communication pathways between real time procedure and subsequent procedures
  • Simple/Intuitive User Interface with subsecond latency

The initial iDrive pulse sequence is
2D Fast Gradient Echo

  • Both FSPGR & FGRE
  • Special In-line controls allowing for real time contrast manipulation (SAT, FatSAT, SPGR, FC, IR)
  • Special In-line controls for FOV manipulation (25% change)
  • Flexible prescription of sequence before going real time
  • Capable of up to 8 frames/second depending upon Gradient Platform/Array Processor and Scan Parameters

Clinical Applications:

Orthopedic

  • Spinal Foramen
  • Carpal Joint
  • Shoulder/Elbow
  • Knee/Ankle

Dual Oblique of ACL

Cardiac

  • Cardiac Chambers
  • Aortic Arch
  • Abdominal Aorta
  • Valve Planes
  • Coronary Arteries

Cardiac Valve

MR Fluoroscopy

  • Bowel Motion
  • Breathing
  • Swallowing
  • Joint Motion

Contrast Parameters

  • Bolus Timing
  • Injection Rates
  • Contrast Dose

A simple Point & Click User Interface and Sub Second Latency facilitates Interactivity;

  • Live OnImage Navigation Icons for altering image geometry (Oblique, Position, Rotation, Center of FOV)
  • Live Image Icons that allow immediate return to familiar/desired anatomy
  • Toggle Buttons for altering image contrast
  • 235 image Circular Image Buffer with Re-Start mode
  • Fast Localization Tools (Draw Line, 2pt & 3pt Tool)
  • 10 level Undo/Redo
  • Simple Image Artifact Management Tools
  • Spot Save & Save Buffer
  • Pause & Close
  • 3 Plane Home Images
  • Redefine Home (automatically creates 3 orthogonal images about the current geometry)
  • Timer function for assessment of dynamic events

The Advance ReFlex Reconstruction Engines are Fully Interactive Capable;

  • Enable Simultaneous Scan & Reconstruction
  • Enable Real Time Reconstruction
  • ReFlex20 (1 PPC) - up to 4 fps for a 256 x 256 image
  • ReFlexPro (4 i860) - up to 4 fps for a 256 x 256 image
  • ReFlexPro Hex (6 i860)- up to 7 fps for a 256 x 256 image
  • ReFlex50 (2 PPC) - up to 10 fps for a 256 x 256 image
  • ReFlex100 (6 PPC) - up to 20 fps for a 256 x 256 image
  • Performance also dependent on Gradient Performance

Benefits of iDrive:

  • Interactive scan plane control gives the Technologist the ability to quickly find the scan plane that is optimal for evaluating complex patient anatomy
  • Interactive imaging with iDrive will change the complex into the simple thereby increasing user productivity & exam quality

Prerequisites:

  • Signa LX System with 8.3 Software
  • Requires Reflex 20 or Faster (30ips) Array Processor
  • Requires iDrive Basic
