The hospital has an annual turnover of £200m, employs 4,000 staff and has a total of 830 beds across its 4 sites and see more than 56,000 day-case and in-patients, 250,000 out-patients. |
Initial situationThe medical division was experiencing problems managing patient flow and meeting patient demand. In particular, bed utilisation was 100% - 10% above the trust’s target and 15% above the nationally recommended figure. |
