InSite OnWatch helps stop system failures before they even happen. The service is built upon a technology designed to continuously scan GE’s interventional cardiovascular imaging systems around the clock and alerts the company’s service engineers to any variations from the norm. They are trained to analyze those defects, step in and fix any faults before the equipment breaks down and, in nearly all instances long before the customer is even aware that a problem exists.


The clinical challenge
GE’s Innova systems are digital x-ray interventional imaging systems used to treat cardiovascular diseases. A large variety of procedures can be performed on such systems. Most of them involve the insertion of a sheath into the femoral or radial artery and then, the intra-vascular treatment of damaged vessels. These treatments, being achieved under real-time X-Ray visualization, require GE’s Innova to be at its highest level of reliability during the procedures.

GE’s innovative solution
OnWatch is designed to help ensure the highest possible availability by predicting a potential system failure before it happens. Using GE’s InSite groundbreaking infrastructure, Innova OnWatch monitors hundreds of different parameters on each unit, collecting up to 250,000 data points per day, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This monitoring is set to go even beyond the Innova. If a potential issue in the system is detected, a local GE Healthcare Online Service Engineer will help investigate the alert – with the support of the remote cardiovascular service team. Where an onsite intervention is needed, the engineer will contact the customer proactively to schedule the system downtime at the most convenient time.

Innova OnWatch contributes to preventing system issues before customers become aware of systems malfunctions. GE’s innovative service helps minimize the risk of having to reschedule patients and allows customers to plan system downtime to perform technical intervention. By lowering unplanned downtime, GE’s service technologies contribute to lowering the cost of care.
