On X-ray the cortical rupture of pelvic rim was overlooked. VolumeRAD revealed an obvious fracture in the pelvic ring.

Patient History
Very old patient had fallen and presented
with pain in the right hip

Findings
A digital X-ray of the hip and pelvis (Fig. 1) was
performed but the tiny cortical rupture of pelvic
rim was overlooked
VolumeRAD (Fig. 2) revealed an obvious fracture
in the pelvic ring

Conclusion

“In many cases VolumeRAD makes lesions
and other details visible that are occult on the
X-ray. In this case VolumeRAD was sufficient
for the diagnosis. No further mobilisation of
the frail patient was required. VolumeRAD
saved the cost of a CT examination and we
had the diagnosis much sooner.”
