The Transcutaneous pO2/pCO2 Module provides instant and continuous information on oxygen delivery to the skin tissue and the removal of carbon dioxide, along with information on skin blood perfusion by its unique feature of trending heating power of the transcutaneous O2/CO2 combined sensor. Sensor technology is original Radiometer technology, the world's leading company in blood gas analysis. The module is compatible with the The Solar® Family of Modular products except Solar 9500. As the transcutaneous blood gas values are highly correlating with arterial blood gas values, monitoring these parameters is most beneficial in ventilator management of neonates, thus decreasing the frequency of blood samplings and transfusions. Although the main purpose of tc-monitoring is to prevent hyperoxia and hypocapnia in neonates, there is plenty opportunity in adult monitoring, especially when etCO2 is not available or adequate, like in laparoscopic procedures. |
