The Solar® Pulse Oximetry Module with Masimo SET® technology uses spectrophotometric analysis to determine the percent of oxygen saturation of hemoglobin in arterial blood. The module provides reliable monitoring of peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2 ) and pulse rate for all patients – for neonates, pediatrics and adult patients – without the time, cost and risk normally associated with arterial blood analysis. Masimo SET® (Signal Extraction Technology) breakthrough technology greately improves arterial signal extraction from noise, thus accurately tracking SpO2 during patient motion and low perfusion. As a result, there is a significant reduction of false alarms and missed events. Compatible with Solar® 8000 monitors, the monitors display the plethysmographic waveform, oxygen saturation, peripheral pulse rate, signal quality indicator, trended information, self-test status, alarm settings and messages. GE Healthcare' Solar® Pulse Oximetry Module with Masimo SET® is extremely easy to use. It performs automatic self-check and calibration when inserted into a monitor. This new Masimo SpO2 discrete module can be used simultaneously with the Tram modules (except with Solar 9500). Although the SpO2 of nearly all patients can be monitored reliably with the Tram modules, there are sometimes limitations in patients with:
