Patient Spirometry Accessories

Each patient needs specific optimized ventilation during anesthesia and respiratory care. GE Healthcare gives you a unique tool - Patient Spirometry - to help promote this optimization. Patient Spirometry provides continuous and non-invasive measurements of real patient values for pulmonary mechanics and ventilation.

GE Healthcare provides four types of patient spirometry sensors:

  • The D-lite is a lightweight, all-in-one flow sensor and gas sampler placed at the patient’s airway.
  • The Pedi-lite, a pediatric sensor, works with small infants with tidal volumes down to 15 ml.
  • The D-lite+ is a single-use sensor that can also be used with active humidifiers.
  • The Pedilite+ is a pediatric version of the D-lite+

A continuous gas sample is drawn through the sampling port of the D-lite sensor with a rate of 200 ml/min for gas analysis of inspiratory and expiratory gas concentrations. The pressure is measured through two pressure measurement ports (= Pitot tubes) of the D-lite/Pedi-lite sensor. The pressure difference of the flow passing through the D-lite during inspiration and expiration is measured and flow velocity is calculated.
All sensors have a broad application area. They can be connected to many different kinds of breathing systems and used during spontaneous breathing, manual assistance of ventilation, controlled mechanical ventilation and Synchronized Intermittent Mandatory Ventilation (SIMV). The sensors can also be used in both critical care and anesthesia environments.
