GE Healthcare, in collaboration with Maquet GmbH & Co. KG, has created the next generation MR guided intra-operative surgical suite. This remarkable suite offers a myriad of solutions for operating environments and personalized healthcare treatment.
The need for MR during surgery is clear: pre-operative imaging detects tumour or tissue abnormalities, but during surgery the tissue isn’t as visible. Intra-operative MR assists with noting the distinction between healthy and abnormal tissue during surgery.
This system has received CE Marking and 510K approval.

Six-Channel Flex Coil
The Flex Phased Array coil is a 6-element and 6-channel coil. The coil is low profile, is packaged to maximize positioning capability, and has three visualization openings in each coil.

The two coil sets are contained in a flexible foam package. This package has a cleanable, coated surface. The flexibility of the coil makes it easy to wrap the coil around the area of interest.

In addition to anterior/posterior positioning, coils can also be positioned laterally around the head.

The two coil halves each have one RF cable that joins into one connector, which plugs into the Phased Array port on the carriage cover.

The coil can be operated while both coils are connected or only when a single coil is connected.
